CEID Walkers Take to the Lake
Over 300 people turned out for the 8th Annual CEID Family Fun Walk-A-Thon at Lakeside Park in Oakland on Sunday May 1st. Even though the walking is done it's not too late to participate. You can be counted as part of this year's Walk-A-Thon success by contributing now through our DONATE button at the top of our Home Page. Just follow the steps and indicate that you want your donation to count toward the 2011 Walk-A-Thon and you can help CEID meet its goal of raising $30,000 this year!
With the weather in full cooperation, CEID families, friends, volunteers, community members, staff, and just plain "walkers" gathered for an early start around Lake Merritt, a distance of about three miles. Family picnicking and games for kids followed, including face painting, giant bubble making, and discounted tickets to Fairyland.

Laurie Capitelli, Berkeley City Councilmember, helps display the banner that our 3rd grade "buddies," from Prospect Sierra School created. Our "buddies" did double duty as designers of this year's winning Walk-A-Thon t-shirt and stellar fundraisers for the event.
Major sponsors included Meyer Sound, Infant Hearing Screening Specialists, Pediatrix, and Injini. We also appreciate the support provided by Cochlear Americas, Kerwood Apartments and Oticon Medical.
It's critical we identify our babies early and provide them and their families the specialized training and comprehensive early intervention that support their optimal listening, communication, and speech potentials.
