Parent Education Workshop: Adapting Play for DHH and Deaf+ Children

Join us on Friday, November 21 at 6:00 PM in the CEID Library for a hands-on parent education workshop led by Leslie Manjarrez, Trilingual Teacher of the Deaf and Certified Child Life Specialist.

Caregivers will learn strategies to adapt play to meet the unique needs of their DHH and Deaf+ children. Discover how to use toys, books, and everyday activities to support language development and meaningful learning at home.

Bring a favorite toy or simply come ready to explore new ways to make play fun and accessible for your child!

Sign Language Class

Join CEID’s Signed Exact English (SEE) for Families & Caregivers program, designed for families with children ages 0–5 who are Deaf, Hard of Hearing, or Deaf Plus. Each week features engaging storybooks, familiar songs and rhymes, and themed activities to help you learn and use SEE naturally at home. You’ll discover how to sign key words during storytime, songs, and everyday routines, build your child’s language skills through visual tools, and gain practical tips for development, repetition, and engagement. Sessions are welcoming for all experience levels, no prior signing knowledge required, and are offered both in person at CEID and online via Zoom. Come learn, play, and connect while building a strong foundation for communication in your family’s daily life.
